How the 6D Cognitive Arena works
hex.coach is a free knowledge quiz that measures how you perform across six very different branches of science and reasoning — then draws the result as a six-axis radar chart. This page explains exactly what a run contains, how the score is calculated and what the ranks mean.
START A RUN1. The six dimensions
Every question in the bank belongs to exactly one dimension. Each dimension is scored on its own axis of the radar.
| Dimension | What it covers |
|---|---|
| 🌊 DEEP SEA | Oceanography, abyssal biology, pressure and temperature extremes |
| ⭐ COSMOS | Astronomy, black holes, relativity, spaceflight history |
| 🏆 WORLD RECORDS | Geographic, biological and physical extremes |
| 🏛️ ANCIENT CIV | Sumer, Egypt, the Maya, Troy, Qin dynasty |
| 🧠 IQ MATRIX | Number sequences, logic, pattern recognition, spatial reasoning |
| 🤖 AI CORE | Neural networks, transformers, alignment, machine reasoning |
A seventh set, CHAOS, is not a scored knowledge dimension. It is a four-question interlude of absurd scenario questions ("you are slipping past the event horizon — what is your instant reaction?"). Every option is accepted, so CHAOS can never cost you points; it exists to break the tension and to make the shared result card more fun.
2. What one run contains
- CHAOS always appears, contributing 4 questions.
- Five of the six knowledge dimensions are drawn at random, contributing 4 questions each.
- That makes 24 questions in total, shuffled so the difficulty is mixed.
- Each question has a 15-second clock. If the clock runs out the question is scored as unanswered, and the answer is revealed anyway.
- Every question ends with a short hard-science explanation — so a wrong answer still teaches you something.
Because the dimensions and the questions inside them are drawn fresh each time, two runs are never identical. The bank currently holds 38 questions; it grows over time.
3. How the power score is calculated
Power = round(correct ÷ 24 × 6000)
One correct answer is worth 250 power. Answered questions count; timeouts and wrong answers do not. The maximum possible is 6,000.
Answers are checked on the server, so the correct option is never present in the page source. That is also why the browser cannot show you the answers in advance.
4. The three ranks
| Power | Rank |
|---|---|
| 0 – 2,000 | 🥉 NEO WHITEHAT |
| 2,001 – 4,000 | 🥈 FISSION WALKER |
| 4,001 – 6,000 | 🥇 OMNI OVERLORD |
The result screen also adds a title derived from your strongest dimension — for example ABYSSAL IRONCLAD for DEEP SEA or MATRIX PHANTOM for AI CORE — plus the radar chart and a screenshot-ready result card you can post anywhere.
5. Frequently asked
Is hex.coach free?
Yes. No account, no email, no download. The quiz runs in your browser.
How long does a run take?
24 questions with a 15-second clock each — typically five to six minutes if you answer without pausing.
Do you store my answers or my score?
No. The score is computed inside your browser session. Individual answers are sent to the API only to be checked, and the result is not stored against you. See the privacy policy.
Can I retake it?
As often as you like. A retake draws different dimensions and different questions.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes — the whole flow is mobile-first, and the result card is generated as an image you can save straight to your camera roll.
